Not sure how I feel about this one. It raises important considerations about how stringent laws and norms surrounding sexual activity harm women (specifically those who are poor or working-class). It also provides a personal look into the Moroccan version of purity culture from the female perspective.
Some parts read like a sociology paper, and the author centred the West in a lot of their discussion of 'repressed sexuality' vs. 'sexual freedom'. It seemed like the author's concept of sexual freedom did not really include women who choose to wear the hijab or those who choose to be chaste. I don't appreciate calls for sex-positivity that don't include individuals choice to not be sexualised.

Put it as less than 5* simply as it’s not the type of book I’d read again I don’t think.
Well written and very informative

Immersive and informative. i liked that we got different perspectives of Moroccan people. Very emphatic toward most people. We get some male perspectives in the stories. I like that there are different people from economic backgrounds in this book and how that plays into their ideas and access about/of their sex lives. Some standouts are the police man, the prostitute, the lesbian, the doctor, and the cleaning/house keeper.
