Volume 3 is the final volume. While the volume itself was well paced, I feel that the author hasn't explored her story to its fullest potential.
The characters are compelling, and realistic in the way they hurt others. Unfortunately, I feel that they don't show as much remorse towards their victims as they should. This would've made sense in a longer series where they're still undergoing their character arcs and facing the consequences of their actions, and not in the final volume of their series.Tsugu is the closest thing the story has to a protagonist, but her character is stagnant in comparison to the rest of the cast, at least until the last few chapters. I think it's a deliberate choice by the author, since she wanted to shed more of a spotlight on the other characters, but I think it's a bit of a waste that she didn't have a "I want to change!" moment that the others had. Despite this, I found The Golden Sheep a very fulfilling story to read. While I don't think it reached its full potential, I'm only upset because I was attached to the main cast and their journeys. I felt very emotional during the final chapter, and was sad to see it end.

The one-shot (standalone story) at the end of the volume was interested in the technical sense as (I believe) it implies that the manga could've been longer, but that the author chose to end it that way.
As for the one-shot's story, I really enjoyed it! It's about a human soul who decides to reincarnate as the son of a very young woman. The story is told from the perspective of the son in heaven after dying, showing the consequences of his death afterwards. It made me tear up multiple times during the course of the story. It touches on life, death, poverty, motherhood, and love.

It felt like a very abrupt ending to the series. It gave a very hopeful ending, but I didn't think how tsuga and Sora were treated by Yuushin and Asari was forgivable.

I really enjoyed this series and couldn't believe this is the last volume! I rated the first two 4 stars but deducted a half star for this one because I felt it ended kinda abruptly? Especially felt duped because of the bonus short story that took up a good chunk of the end.

Honestly this manga was so good and quickly became one of my favorites. A few things were missing for me though which I will explain here. Yuushin used to beat up Sora with his friends constantly steal from him, bully him, tell him to kill himself and so much more. We got some insight about why Yuushin did these things but I think everything happened a bit fast. It is said that Yuushin acted this way because he felt Sora had given up on him, and this does not excuse any of his behavior. Sora was traumatized by the horrible bullying he was dealt to the point where he wanted to kill himself. And it was wrapped up in the end with a pretty bow that they all became friends again. That was what bothered me the most. Most of the characters stories were not given fully, not giving readers a chance to fully connect with the characters. On another note, the little bits of romances that were given. Yuushin had sexually assaulted Asari, and I say this because she had told him to stop and he didn't, she was crying hysterically and looked very downtrodden. Later in the novel, this is not resolved or addressed and she is still blushing around Yuushin. It was as if this was normal.Second, Tsugu and Sora had a sweet friendship that was possibly leading to more and when he stated he wanted to get stronger before engaging in anything with her, I was intrigued to see his growth. Seeing the growth and development of all these characters would have been really cool if the series continued. Which is why I think a lot of things were left unresolved at the end. I can only hope there will be more in the series to give some closure at least.
The short story Love Letters was heartbreaking and a bit confusing tbh
All in all, I enjoyed it.

There was so many emotions! I loved the ending and I love the story of friendship in this manga highly recommend it all ages!
I just love how realistic Kaori Ozaki stories are very relatable.

i wish there were more volumes to this series because i really liked it! really loved the focus on friendships and how people change and grow apart and the discussions of mental health.
only issue i have is a serious incident that happened in vol 2 between the two of the friends that wasn’t addressed (no apology or consequences) which was disappointing.
but if you’re looking for a sweet, raw slice of life manga series i would recommend this!
