I loved learning about this time in history. The details of WW1 France and the CARD organization were fascinating and the story was well told.

I enjoyed the themes of both parts of the story. The human spirit and community are just so nice. Unfortunately, the emotions didn't hit me as hard as I'd want for something like this (except for a couple parts). Also, I don't like stories where we're watching the book we're reading being written, it just feels silly to me.
