Not my favorite Meghan Quinn. Mostly because while Myla’s emotions behind her decision were totally valid, the decision itself seemed super freaking rash considering her history with Ryot. And the stuff she did that two weeks she spent trying to distance herself from him before JP and Kelsey’s wedding was petty and childish, and REALLY annoyed me. Ryot made a mistake, sure, but that dude was ridiculously dreamy. Also, the whole Nichole thing at the end felt like it came out of left field and was kinda unnecessary, if you ask me.

I wanted to LOVE this book, but it's just a like.
The author waited too long to make me like Myla.  In the end I do get her and like her, but we were way too far into the book before I could find any redeeming qualities.  I get that the book needed to move along, but the first 50% it just seemed like Myla was a jerk doing mean things (they both were, but the story telling around Ryot created so much more empathy for him) and there wasn't really a good basis for the divorce request.  I just spent too much of the book hating everyone - I'm glad I didn't DNF and got the end, but eh.....

I usually love Meghan Quinn’s books, but I’ve really struggled with the last couple. I even downloaded the audiobook thinking it would help get through, but it makes it worse hearing their ridiculous crap out loud. Both characters are so immature. I get Myla has past trauma, but my god, it’s not hard to tell your spouse what’s wrong when they ask. I get he should know because she’s tried to talk to him before. She’s frustrated he never listened to her, but when she has his full attention she decides just to be petty and tell him he should know. Honestly listening to Myla waffle the whole book was driving me crazy. She obviously needed therapy and lots of it. There’s a lot of emotional baggage, and a professional is needed to help her work through that.

The only saving grace with the audiobook is how they’re done; the male voice is read by the mail actor, even in the female POV chapters, and vice versa. It’s like an actual conversation. Most the newer Meghan Quinn books I’ve listened to and read have been set up the same way, and I really love that.
