This book delves into some hard topic but it’s strong writing and worth it if you’re in the right headspace. I loved the parallels between the protagonist and antagonist that grow as the story progresses. Jake and Sawyer are both outsiders. Ryan Douglass shows how easily Jake could have followed the same path as Sawyer. At his darkest, Jake related more to Sawyer than he wants to. They’re both victims of multiple forms of abuse from their families. But Jake has hope, without which he wouldn’t be able to fight as he needs to.
