The concept was good but everything was too rushed to enjoy. None of the characters were lovable because they were not developed enough and I found that the personalities of some of the characters would change too much to be consistent or believable.

The writing and vocabulary was great. Great use of metaphors and similes. The climax was hard to identify and underwhelming. The falling action and resolution were stretched. The author has a great talent with words and description and the concept of the book and very interesting

This book dragged a bit in the beginning but when it kicked off, it didn’t really stop. I didn’t know where this book was going—initially expecting a darker, murder mystery story. I enjoyed both POVs to highlight the similarities between Jake and Sawyer. I think each characters’ pains and low points were genuine. I’m only concerned about Sawyer’s first major outburst (for lack of better words) because given his background, I could see some sympathizing his violence. It felt like textbook to how it’s portrayed on the news.

There are def some difficult topics in this book so check out content/trigger warnings before reading!
Overall, thought the book was solid. I enjoyed the paranormal aspects of it and how it also spoke on trauma. I would've liked to see more of Jake learning/accepting his power thought. I enjoyed reading about his interpersonal relationships growing and how his intrapersonal relationship grew as well.
