After DNF-ing Deep Kiss of Winter, this was a pleasant change of pace and one of my favorite books of the IAD series yet. Garreth realizes the celibate Lucia is his mate and chases after her endlessly, all the way to the Amazon, where the story really picks up. It’s probably because the Amazon was one of my favorite subjects to study growing up, but I also enjoyed how it felt more adventurous at this point compared to other stories. Also, tropical settings are so underutilized in fantasy. I love when my books teach me new things (lots of Amazon facts and first time I ever heard about Fatal Familial Insomnia). KC, ya done good on this one.
