A perfect companion for a long drive from San Francisco to Orange County. It is very trope heavy with the UK vs French stereotypes but the writing is light enough to not be too heavy and Moore does have some funny turn of phrases.

I listened to this via audiobook as I felt like my eyes needed a little break from physical reading and thought this sounded good. It came up as a mystery but for me, I just wasn’t getting that vibe. It just felt like a wild goose chase going from here to there and sometimes there was too much to keep up with.

I quite liked the humour in this and did enjoy some of the interactions however sometimes Richard’s thoughts and comparisons would just be far too long to keep my interest for long enough and as someone who’s listening to it made it hard to keep up with.

I do think the ending wasn’t strong and there was just far too much going on in such a little amount of time that I didn’t really get all the little stories and how they intertwined.

I get this is the first in the series so would be curious if it improves as the series goes on. And finally, WHO KILLED THE DAMN CHICKEN???

Enjoyed the book, loved the characters! Sped up very quickly at the end though so I got a bit lost in the plot reveal. HOWEVER: can someone tell me who killed the chicken?!? I don’t know if I missed it

Thanks :)

This was not a good book. Not interesting mystery and dull characters. It said was funny but it wasn’t at all?
