Fine. I loved this book.
So cliche, so predictable, so cute.
Kasie West knows how to pull at my heartstrings!

4.5 stars

I am not a big fan of from hate-to-love trope, but this book is an exception for me. I really enjoyed this. It was so much fun reading it and the story was just so cute! I loved that the author makes me guess who is the pen pal even though I know it is pretty obvious. But that is a fun interactive way with the readers, right?

Anyway, P.S. I Like You is about a teenager, Lily who loves music and wanted to be a songwriter. Lily hated Chemistry class and out of boredom, she scribbles some song lyrics on her desk. To her surprise, someone response back to her desk the next day. Soon enough, Lily and her mystery pen pal both started to exchange letters, lyrics and secrets. This letter exchanging starts off as a way to pass time during Chemistry class. But the more they write, the more they come to understand each other and Lily feels that she was falling for this guy.

Like I mentioned earlier I really enjoyed this book. But I didn't rate it 5/5 stars is because there are some things that I wasn't pleased with it. So, let's start with me being salty and then we will move on to the things that I really loved about this book.

Things that I didn't enjoy:
1. The mean girl. Somehow, in every romance books, it has to have a girl who is also in love with the love interest. And when the mean girl know that the main character like the love interest too, she is always there to torment whoever gets in her way. This trend really has to stop, because it didn't play a major role in the story and what for?

2. The mystery pen-pal. Okay, this really isn't the big issue here. Even though it is super obvious who the mystery pen-pal is, it didn't take away the excitement I have with this book. Yet, I still wish that it is a bit more intrigue.

Things that I love about this book:
1. The writing. It is simple and super addictive.

2. The cuteness. Of course, this is a YA contemporary romance book definitely is going to be full of fluffy and cuteness. I can't stop smiling while reading this. But seriously, the interaction between the main character and the love interest is really adorable.

3. The characters. Lily is a funny, weird and responsible girl. She is not some dull and stupid YA main character, she knows what she's doing. She is a responsible big sister who often putting her little brothers before her social life. And her passion for music is a plus point. Her character development is good too. I liked that she gained the courage to go after her dreams. The love interest is cute and has a personality. When first reading about him, I didn't like him at all.
Spoiler I still don't really get the part where he thinks that giving people nicknames was actually to help them and not making fun of them.
He can be very flirty and charming. But as the story progress, he grew on me. Where else the rest of the characters in here are not dull to read, they are entertaining and full of humor.

4. The family. I really liked seeing Lily spending time with her family. The best words to describe her family is loud, chaotic and funny. They are not wealthy, but they are a big happy family. The Thanksgiving party was just so funny and warm to read. Her bond with her family is so strong, especially her sister, Ashley. Their conversation was hilarious. Maybe is because I come from a small family and that's why I really enjoyed reading a story about a big family.

5. The friendship. Isabel and Lily's friendship are just so strong. They support each other and constantly cheering up and be there for one and another. Usually, in a romance book, they don't really focus on the friendship that much because all eyes are on the romance. So, it is a plus point if it includes a strong friendship. Totally BFF goals!

6. "I love my man bracelet." Come on!

Nevertheless, I flew through this book. I couldn't put this down until I know I reached the ending. When I'm done with it, I feel so empty that I could cry. I totally recommend this.
medium-paced

This one was so cute, one of my favourite Kasie West books yet! I basically read it in one sitting, which is practically unheard of. I loved Lily (she was hilarious at times!), her best friend Isabel, and her family - her little brother Jonah was especially sweet! The only one I wasn't completely sold on was Cade, but he (mostly) redeemed himself for me. Anyway, definitely recommended for anyone looking for a fun, contemporary YA!

It was very obvious who the other letters came from right from the start and I also didn't love the ending that much but I did enjoy this book a LOT and I loved the story so I gave it 4 stars anyway.

Super predictable plot and story line, but it’s a fun and light-hearted YA book. This would be great for tweens!

AAHHHH!!! this book was soooo goood!! it was such a perfect story!! the characters were amazing and I loved the the communication of passing notes (which it totally a lost art)!!! it seems like no one does this anymore, but as the author says, there is just something more exciting, thrilling, and romantic about it. one of my favorite reads ever ???
