For the longest time I was thinking of rating this a 2.5 or a 2.75. This book wasn't bad at all it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think it was written very well and it was a quick read. Towards the end there was some twists in the plot and some reveals that made me enjoy the book more than I had been, that is why it got bumped to a 3. I had a lot of working theories as I read and some were true and others hinted at the truth while some I was totally off. I enjoyed that I didn't guess everything that was gonna happen, I am pretty decent at that and it can kind of suck. My biggest gripe is it was just too whimsical for me but I do thing other people may enjoy it.

Chalk full of new-to-me Russian-inspired (a guess on my part tbh) lore! This was an interesting fantasy with wild and unique magic

I was In love with this book...for the first 75 pages. Then it lost its mind. It felt like there was wayyyy too much going on. Too much fantastical “stuff” and non of it was fleshed out. Maybe it’s just me. I really wanted to love it, but not so much.

Echo North was a perfectly lovely fairytale retelling and a great cozy read for me inbetween other books! This book is a retelling based on a few different OTHER retellings, which are based on Beauty and the Beast, East of the Sun, and Tim Lin.

I thought this book did a perfect job of what I expected it to: Tell me a lovely fairlytale full of magic and mystery.

I think a few things stick out to me as well done, including the prose and the settings. It was a very lovely read that was enchanting.

A few things fell short of this read being extraordinary - I think that the mirror library sections could have been cut down. I felt like a few of the character choices and mysteries that unfolded left me thinking "..oh weird" a few times. I also wished a little bit more space had been made for the epilogue, but that is just personally where I would have indulged in a little more elaboration.

Overall, this story was a great fairytale read, and I recommend it if you are looking for something light and magical!

This may be my favorite book I’ve read this year thus far! I loved East of the Sun, West of the Moon when I was a child and this is such a rich reimagining of it that holds true to the elements of fairy tales.

The beauty and the beast plot is what pulled me in as well as the characters. But the house and its residents along with the magic made it hard to follow the story. I couldn’t tell who was who for most of the book. The ending was confusing as well. As must as it pains me to say it, I felt very little romance between the Wolf and Echo.
