Rowan sucked for a large portion of this book.

Also I listened to the audio book and didn’t realize how spoiled I was with duel narrators who voice female and male characters.

This was quite a fun time. I liked both protagonists even though the plot was a bit unbelievable.

RATING
⭐⭐⭐
3.5 out of 5.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Rowan had a plan, but plans tend to change, don’t they? After the reading of the will of his late grandfather, he and his brothers receive stipulations which come with inheriting.
As Rowan is the director he feels the responsibility to refresh and renew the slightly dated amusement part, his legacy.
Zahra is working a dead-end job at the park, and after a pitiful drunken-fest she sends in a proposal criticising one of the most popular rides.
She expects to be fired immediately, but instead, Rowan asks her to help out re-designing the failing rides and attractions in the park.
However, the close work relationship lends its hand to offer something more. Sparks fly, trauma is shared, there are insider jokes and stolen kisses. But will it be enough?

REVIEW:
I never read a book which was set mainly in an amusement park. I’ve never really been in an actual amusement park (not in a super incredible and popular one, anyway), so I liked getting to learn what’s the obsession is about. I can’t say I understand it, but I could appreciate the creativity and big dreams it requires to run smoothly.
As for Zahra and Rowan’s story I enjoyed the dynamic of not only the park, but the trope of the boss and his employee falling in love, even though it shall be forbidden to do so.
If you know me, you’d know this is one of my favourite tropes ever, I looked for books with this set-up even before I knew what a trope should be.
I liked the banter between the characters, how Rowan seemed to fall for Zahra in spite of all his well-intended actions of not doing exactly just that.
What didn’t sit with me quite right was the connection and reasoning of why the characters fell for each other. I could sense that there was attraction in the physical sense, but their souls and minds did not seem to cooperate, thus making falling in love a bit of a rushed decision and insta-lovey for my taste. I would’ve loved slow burn for this kind of romance, with feeling coming into play first, and acting on them later. This is the main reason for the stars in my review.
I am curious what the future holds in terms of the other two brothers, and the element of grandpa taking care of his boys via his will is intriguing, sentimental and sweet
I have to praise the illustrator of the cover, they do wonderful work!
