Loved this book. Very similar to a The Hunger Games in a dystopian society setting. Easy read that kept me entertained and wanting to come back to find out what happens next. A little bit predictable story line between Tris and Four, but still a great story. Ready to read the next in the series.

Throughout the whole book, the author seemed to be avoiding romance (a choice which didn't always endear me to the characters) trope and for that reason I found the ending trite and disappointing. Other scenes felt underdeveloped as well, and some characters were a little too trope-y, but the story itself was exciting.

3.5 stars and consider me generous for giving it that half star. yes i was thrilled and excited and read it in four days but the amount of crab it contains?? like how many times she repeated how small and short she is!? i’m genuinely curious and to be frank she’s a normal fmc? other than being a divergent what else makes her special? i hate to be that kind who hate on female characters but this one really infuriates me in a way nobody gets.

It has some interesting parts I'm not gonna lie. The idea as a whole is brilliant and it makes your imagination go for a lovely ride. However, I did find a lot of questions regarding the plot that I couldn't answer. Also the romance is always disturbing and feels like blaah.

já nevím :D číst se to dalo, silně to připomínalo Twilight a celkově to bylo takový uslazený a moc dlouhý. Film na tom byl teda podstatně líp, protože to myšlenkový sebemučení neobsahoval :D

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel...almost as much -- and possibly more -- than the first novel in the Hunger Games trilogy. YA fiction has definitely become more sophisticated than in my days when reading Judy Blume was about it. Roth's debut novel hooked me from the beginning, as did its interesting premise and Roth's approach with the novel's heroine, Tris, who is difficult to figure out at first but much more vulnerable than Catniss in the Hunger Games. I've downloaded her second novel on my Kindle. Hope it's as good of a read as her first.
