This book was absolutely awesome. I don't know why I kept putting it off. Oh yes, I do. I kept thinking it was another Hunger Games. Believe me, it isn't.

I could NOT put this book down. It was about our similarities and our differences and how they determine our place in life, or a life that could be. Is this what will happen to us? Will we divide ourselves by these differences? Seems scary; but you know what? This is what we do now, with our political parties, religious denominations, lunchroom divisions, etcetera, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I really did not want the story to end.

This story is quite simple, and quite amazing in its ability to draw you in. I am really not sure what 'faction' I would choose. Do you?

Read this book probably 20 times as a kid. Super fast and exciting read. I love Tris and Four’s relationship. I think Tris is also a really interesting character.

So very addictive. Made it into my dreams.

Meh. I think what's most disappointing here is that the things that bugged me were often the same staple elements of YA genre fiction that were used so organically in The Hunger Games. Other people can make this stuff seem less stilted, awkward, and forced.

Also, two things: if the trains *can* stop, then what on earth does it accomplish to have them run constantly? Plus, the guns as objects of power fetish is depressing, and the Dauntless' cavalier attitude towards even marginal gun safety makes me wonder how they're still around.

I thought it was good for a teenager, who it was written for, but it was just sooo incredibly similar to The Hunger Games and I didn't think it was very original.

Rereading this was the best choice I made this year.

good concept, got worse as the series went i think

I think I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if I hadn't seen the movie beforehand. Said movie follows the book surprisingly well and that meant that I knew all the twists before they happened, which makes it hard to give the book a fair rating, so take that 3 star with a grain of salt.

Fun.
