Right around the time I closed the back cover on Scott Pilgrim Volume 1, I went right out and bought Volumes 3-5. I’d have bought Volume 6, but it doesn’t come out until July. I am hoping I survive that long. The withdrawal might not be pretty.
These books, at least the first two, are so fun it’s like eating ice cream in the sunshine while watching your favorite band play. Or whatever it is you think is a lot of fun to do for a couple of hours.
In Volume 2, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, our favorite Canadian hipster doofus is back and in love. Scott and Ramona’s relationship seems to be progressing even with the spectre of the seven evil ex-boyfriend lurking around them. Oh and Knives Chau, the seventeen-year-old high school student Scott hasn’t exactly broken up with yet.

This was ... not good. I am clearly in the minority in my "enjoyment" of this series, and perhaps it's reflective of the era, but aside from the clunky and cringey writing, the *questionable* romantic partners, and constant use of the "r" slur, this is just ... a terrible book/series.
Poor Knives, Lol! Poor heartbroken, naive, little Knives. Also, Scott's still the worst. Ramona Flowers is an icon, and she deserves better. Also, Envy Adams. <3
I'm in love with this series! The characters are phenomenal and the artwork is beautiful. I can't wait to continue.
Review: **Please Note Review May Contain Spoilers**
As I said in the previous review for Scott Pilgrim I loved the second volume to the series. It really made it for me other than the infamous bread scene I'm in love with. This book really made it so I would finish read the series. Again, the first one fell flat for me and didn't catch my interest. In this one he has to go up against Ramona's second evil ex-boyfriend, and Knives also goes a little cray-cray. I think what did it for me though was when he had to go up against the 2nd evil ex-boyfriend. I thought it was clever how he was defeated. Because well, you'll find out if you read it.
Though I will admit I did get a little confused towards the end. I'm not sure if Scott's ex-girlfriend (Envy, not Knives) is supposed to be a rival to Ramona? I do love that Ramona's 3rd evil ex-boyfriend is in the same band as Envy though. I thought that that was kind of funny that they were joking about it, and lo-and-behold there he is, the same Todd they were talking about! In this volume we also got to learn a little bit more about his friends which I thought was really cool. Not just about Scott (who is a huge dweeb)!
Overall I loved the second volume and have yet to finish reading the series! Though I am looking forward to it! Of course I also went out and bought the movie as well so as soon as I am finished reading the series I am able to watch the movie! Stay tuned for more reviews on the Scott Pilgrim series!
