In a world where gigantic robots are part of a ruling empire’s weaponry, and they enhance Pilots with technology to create cyborg-like humans who operate the machines, a group of talented rebels find ways to take them down. When one of the rebels, Eris, is captured, she receives help to escape in the unlikeliest of places – a Valkyrie Pilot named Sona, who has her own agenda of defeating the empire from the inside. Gearbreakers tells the story of how these two teenagers join forces to accomplish a common goal and begin to develop feelings for each other along the way.

She said we could be mad at her for the ending and so I guess we can be.

I should have just DNFed this book. It ate up so much of my time, and I never wanted to pick it up.
Main complaints:
- The plot moved too fast. I didn't care about any of the big things that happened. There was no time to get comfortable with a place or an idea before we had to move on again.
- All of the relationships were shallow. Even the love interest/ main relationship felt forced and robotic. (No pun intended) This made all character deaths feel pointless. None of it saddened me. Everything would have been better if the relationships had been explored more.
- Finally, this feels like a fanfic, and not a good one. I wasted way too much time on the book.

As a massive mecha fan, this novel hits the spot. Carrying a mixed vibe of mecha meets cyborg (from teen titans). This duo POV novel was truly beautiful.
