I'm going to draw on my strengths as a charismatic extrovert and passionately recommend this book to anyone and everyone, no matter where they fall on the personality scale. I was slightly concerned this book would bash us mouthy extroverts, but it absolutely does not fall into the obvious intellectual pitfall of praising one type of person over another. Instead Cain calls for balance, for using our strengths to get ahead while also recognizing the value in different ways of being. Her arguments are throughly researched, well supported and extremely interesting. This should be required reading for everyone really, but teachers in particular.

This is not a book written to make me “come out of my shell”, but rather it helps to define introvert versus extrovert, what drives each, and the power of both. As an introvert, a mother, an employee, and a boss, this book provides for great insight and tips to allow a home and work environment to be set up the best working environments for everyone to fulfill their full potential. I throughly enjoyed this as an audiobook.
