okay so it kept me really engaged but like the ending was lowkey flat?? like all of that just for that ending?!

Thank goodness this book is done because it wasn’t very good.

This mystery had way too many characters that could have been cut out, all their names were too similar, characters were being called their full name and in the same sentence their nickname. Just way too much going on.
The mystery wasn’t something I found myself excited to figure out.
The ending felt dull and not twisty.

4.5 stars! i loooove kara thomas and i’m so glad i loved her adult debut. this book had everything i look for in my thrillers and it was great. the last quarter genuinely surprised me and i had to pause reading a couple times to process.

It's another great Kara Thomas thriller that kept me guessing and almost made me cry. This was my first of her adult thrillers and it was just as good as her YA ones. I think it was a bit darker and grittier but that's to be expected with the different age category I think.
The narrator did a fantastic job of bringing the story to life and giving the characters different voices without being over-the-top and comical. Which wouldn't be appropriate for this subject matter.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. I guessed part of the mystery but not all of it and not in quite the right direction either.
