I feel like I’ve learned so much, and yet I want more (in a good way). Something I really appreciate was that even when using archiva theory, Caswell didn’t make it go over my head. The conclusion regarding the ethics of looking was really powerful.

An emotionally changeling but deeply important read on archives, trauma, and the social life of photographic records. Caswell's use of archival theory to examine the provenance, usage, and transformation of photographs relating to the Khmer Rouge reign is a powerful work for anyone working with historical trauma, human rights archives, or archival silences.
