This collection of beautiful poetry is clearly the work of a gifted poet. However, the aesthetic of the book and artwork has a caveat: punctuation. This is clearly purposeful, but the power of the poems would’ve been stronger had a couple more commas been added to help the flow and rhythm of the author’s work. Overall, the poet expresses her personal experiences working her way from survival through her childhood to blossoming into a mature woman.

there are many poems depicting a hard home life for the author at a young age, including her father being sexually abusive towards her mother, and herself, along with other extended family members. Later on, the author is in a relationship struggling with the idea of love.
