There is more to this eye than just a children's story, but really one for all to read and learn about life lessons. I loved it so much I read it in French and in English. I loved the illustrations, how applicable to life the book is, and how several years later I still think so fondly of this book and the time I spent reading it.

A classic!

Ein entzündetes Buch, aus dem Jung und Alt immer etwas mitnehmen können.

Ought to be read in conjunction with Camus’s Essay on Sisyphus.

This is a book that is very difficult to rate, so I opted out of doing so.
This is probably the first book to play the fated game of Kids and Grown-Ups, and the most famous example of doing so. It can feel grating at times, but in the end the story is mostly focused on the  eponymous personage and his devotion to a rose. Is this truly what the book is trying to say? No. The book tries to be deep and philosophical. And it only partly succeeds—of course it tries its best, but it can only fit so many ideas into itself, being a novella.
