The kitten’s name was enough for me. Have a kid accidentally name a kitten after the person who held her hostage for 3 years, as though she’s forgotten. Throughout the three books the cheesy dial just kept getting cranked higher and higher. For a seasoned detective Kate sure is shocked by some pretty predictable and mundane things. I also don’t need to know anything else about Maremmas.

Overall Review (spoilers)
This is a review for the first three books in the series.
A small town in Australia seems like the perfect place to raise your child. The perfect ideal place for people to live, where nothing ever goes wrong. However, Detective Wakeland quickly learns that there is more darkness to this town. From a kidnapping of her child, to the pain her own daughter goes through, to learning about the town’s dark past, Wakeland begins to undercover the darkness that exist in her cute small town. Can she help right historical wrongs that are causing pain today, or will the secrets get burned away?
These books can be read as stand alones, but to be honest I recommend reading it in order. The first is that it will make more sense, the second is it build suspense. The first and third book are top tier, the second book was more meh but I think it was just the topic that bothered me. There is a lot of child abuse in these books, so be careful with reading it.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first but it was still a great read. Nice to have closure for the series

Another enjoyable, fast-paced read from The Tallman series. Wish I had read it sooner as I had forgotten a lot of the details of the previous books, but still really enjoyed it.

Wow, what an ending to the series!!! The Silent Town is paints a haunting picture of the picturesque town we’ve grown love, showing that it isn’t all that it appears to be. I’ve grown to love these characters and my heart broke during some parts of this. The ending was very satisfying. Everything from the series came together. The series can be read as standalone novels, but having read them in quick succession I absolutely recommend reading them all! It adds to the appeal and mystery.
