Review:
Possessive MMC Oliver is rich and he’s not afraid to flaunt it or let it be known to Issac. Issac was disowned by his family for being gay. He’s is college and is doing everything in his control to stay in college. He’s is the definition a broke college kid. Until Oliver comes into play and makes an offer to Issac he can’t refuse.

Overall:
I enjoyed this book. Oliver and his possessiveness with Issac. I feel like Issac has to go through all these emotions to be truly accepted by Oliver. Even though Oliver made it clear multiple times that he was interested in Issac. This was a first for Oliver. I really liked the fencing aspect of the book as well. That they were both on the same team. I also loved Issac’s roommate Colin. He has no filter and isn’t scared to be completely honest about any situation. Honestly glad that Colin came into Issac’s life at the right time.

This was so good; it had so many of my favourite tropes all smushed into one scorching hot book! Obscure sport? Check! Pretty Woman premise? Check! Obsessive, possessive love? Check! Black cat x golden retriever? Check! Class difference? Check, check, check!

Isaac Becker has been disowned by his extremely religious family after being forcibly outed. He’s desperately trying to keep his place at college but is fast running out of money… until a handsome older student offers to pay him $3000 for 24 hours of his time. Desperate, Isaac agrees, but quickly realises he’s in trouble when the enigmatic man turns out to be everything he’s ever dreamed of… but it’s only for one night, right?

Oliver Godfrey, part of the New York elite, hates everyone and everything. Until he falls head over heels for the sweet, innocent Isaac after only 24 hours together. It was only meant to be one night…

But the two are forced together when they realise they are both on the fencing team, the New York Gods. Oliver has spent his privileged life getting everything he’s ever wanted, but suddenly he’s faced with potentially having to give up everything - his inheritance, his future job at his father’s firm - to be with the one man who makes him feel something. But can Isaac get over the trauma of his past and let Oliver love him? And will Isaac’s roommate Colin ever stop cockblocking them?

Read On Guard for:
✨ Black cat x Golden Retriever
✨ Class difference
✨ Virgin MC, touch starved
✨ Pay to play
✨ Sports romance (fencing! ⚔️)
✨ Dom/Sub dynamics
✨ Touch him and 💀
✨ Overcoming religious trauma

Gonna get a copy (with this cute alt. cover!) to get signed at RARE London 💕

I never thought fencing could be so hot… my god was I into it the power fight during those matches. ☠️

I didn't know what to expect from this book, but I ended up liking it. I love a possessive MC, Oliver's obsession with Isaac from the start, the way they couldn't stay away from each other, Isaac's drawings of Oliver. I just think that even though the book touches on real and ugly topics, and was a little over the top in some situations, it ended up being a good and spicy story.

“My Oliver. He’s so strong all the time. But he’s soft with me. I think I’m the only one he showed those parts of himself to. Maybe ever”

"Because you're beautiful. Like art. I've never wanted anything more in my life."
