Horror isn't my thing...at all. But I couldn't turn this book down after getting a peek at the beautiful illustrations. The stories weren't as creepy as I thought, so I gladly had the chance to admire the art.

...Then "The Nesting Place" happened. The illustrations in that story freaked...me...out! Thank goodness I didn't read this at night.

Junji Ito has a western peer. All of the stories in this book hit. Loved the collection. I love how the books blues the line between comic and picture book with the way it uses it’s panels and gutters. The art and coloring are immaculate and disturbing. Can’t wait to read more from this creator!

Beautiful artwork!
Five short stories of Victorian gothic “horror”. Felt like reading “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” but this didn’t feel as scary. A bit macabre and dark but intended for maybe a younger audience.
