the way i almost fell into yet another reading slump and this scooped me out of it

oh this was so perfect good perfect. i was worried it'd get repetitive but it so totally didn't. i think the pace picks up at the right time and every single one tugs at a heartstring and just Sends me to tears. there is really something about the constant crushing disappointment AND the heartwrenching want to continue living. The constant asking; what is the best way to live? and learning that the only way to find out, the only way to learn is to live. Such an impactful read.

Let's be kind to the people in our own existence.

This book probably deserves a higher rating for the book it is but it’s just not the book for me. It feels like a book I’d read in a lit class. It was well written and original, I can appreciate it so much and recognize it is in general a very good book. However, I did not grow attached to any character or life, I was not looking forward to reading it or captivated at any point until the very very end. In short, this book did not give me the feelings I seek out. However, I know several people I’d recommend this to because it is a good book… for the right person

this absolutely would’ve ruined my life if i read it in high school. it’s giving everything everywhere all at once and i will always eat up anything with the multiverse. very comforting in the “it’s never too late to change your life” kind of way. life lessons without being too annoying or preachy. rooting for Nora through the whole thing, her flaws are painfully human and if you’ve ever experienced either depression and/or imposter syndrome be prepared to relate to her in a devastating way.

As someone who has suffered depression and suicidal ideations for years, this book felt, at best, preachy and at worst insulting. The entire book was just the author screaming “DON’T BE SAD, BE GRATEFUL THAT YOU’RE ALIVE AND ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE YOU HAVE” at you, which is as helpful as someone telling you to “just get over it” when you’re in the middle of a depressive episode. Two stars because the concept was interesting.
