Emotion Focused Therapy is one of many attachment based psychotherapy models aimed at helping individuals, couples, and families better understand how their behaviors are adaptive, mediated by emotion, and are connected to others in their expression. Sue Johnson, researcher and clinician/developer of EFT, comprehensively outlines attachment based models of psychotherapy, including EFIT (individual), EFFT (families), and EFT (couples). She is able to effectively communicate the ins and outs of attachment based models in a way that is readable to professional audiences. Lay readers may find this difficult to read, and her book "Hold Me Tight" is a more appropriate recommendation.
