Monsieur Pamplemousse and the Militant Midwives, by Michael Bond

Slow moving, gentle, mildly amusing, but pleasant. There's actually very little plot - *just* enough, really. But the writing is good, the characters skilfully drawn and the situations moderately interesting.

I see that this book has had a lot of negative reviews and I can see why... for some reason I enjoyed it though!

Good reader in Bill Wallis. Fun romp. Clever with language.
