This is a good series, I think. Tess Monaghan is intelligent and strong, and doesn't rely on the men around her to get her out of a jam. She's a bit fumbling in this new PI endeavor, but she'll catch on pretty quickly. I'll keep reading this series.

I've been meaning to read Laura Lippman forever - I follow her on Twitter and I've read bits and pieces in the past that suggested I'd like her mysteries. This is a solid first entry (in what I sense is a series that gets better over time). The writing is much above average for the genre and the characters and location details are nicely rendered. I'll read more.
