I'm a dab hand at this whole mental illness stuff, and after multiple bouts of CBT this didn't teach me anything I didn't already know. It was a nice reminder, though, and has made a bit of a difference already.

Better for people who haven't considered their mental health much.

absolutely a must-read for anyone and everyone. i consistently recommend this book to everyone i get to know

I won't be giving a mental health guide a star rating, it just doesn't feel right.

Even if you're not a "fan" of Daniel Howell, I feel like there is a lot to learn from this book. There are a lot of things I knew but there were even more that I didn't. This is presented factually while still having that underlying dry humor that people love from Dan. If you don't like dry humor and tone- this book probably isn't the best one for you. I highly recommend this to be read by using the Audiobook. I think it gets the joking part of the tone across correctly.

If you have spent a lot of time researching mental health tactics and coping skills, you will likely know most of this. I believe this book is intended for people who have not had that type of experience. This could be VERY life-changing for a teenager or young adult who is struggling with mental health and they don't know who to turn to for help.
