I very much enjoyed the strong family dynamic. There were many characters, but it was easy to identify each one because of the distinctive personalities.  The love between family members was honest and evident.

The House of Broken Angels is beautiful and hilarious and poignant story of family: loud, annoying, messy, loving, hurtful, and right on time. Set in Southern California, with side trips to Tijuana, and told from multiple points of view, it lets everyone have their say, which is what we all want, right? Highly recommended.

I began this years ago, but was in the wrong headspace. This time around I flew through it, and it was a joy. It’s best read without trying to analyze or track the threads…trust the book to take you through the times and characters. Enjoy the ride, and the humor and absurdity will find you. Big Angel is an absurdist, and it shows in the humor.
