3.92 AVERAGE

It took my a while but I ended up loving this book and all of the characters! I would give it 4 1/2 stars, not 5, because there were so many characters and it was sometimes hard to keep track. Loved the writing, can’t wait to read another if his books!

Amazing.

I bought this book as a ‘blind date with a book’ and I really appreciate that it’s something that might not have appealed to me if I was just browsing shelves.
That said, this wasn’t really for me. I didn’t feel drawn to read the book until the last 80 pages. Before that it really felt like I had to schedule reading it to get further.
For me, this mostly came from not connecting to the perspectives of the characters, but also not finding them too compelling. Which definitely stems from only the male characters being well-developed and the way in which they speak/think about women.

Just like Little Angel who felt exhausted by his gigantic family and all their commotion and craziness, I felt exhausted by this book. Sad, unfunny, boring, endless. I just wanted this family to leave me alone!
