An essential and inspiring read. I got lost at times, when it got too scientific for me to truly understand. But I kept reading, and took from it what I could. The end message I was beautiful, and I hope it reaches as many people as possible. Suzanne Simmard is an inspiration

The concept of this one was really interesting - that mother trees communicate to others through neuropathways similar to humans.
But I’m not sure what exact I’m supposed to be getting out of reading this. And what is it supposed to be? A memoir? A scientific journal? Her writing isn’t good enough to keep me engaged in either direction. It’s either swaths of dull dialogue or swaths of information overload that’s too scientific for a layman to be engaged with.
Anyways, sad to be giving up but I’ve dedicated enough of my time already and I can’t see it getting any better after 6 chapters of this.

Really interesting & informative read, despite me getting bogged down at times. Enjoyed seeing how Simard’s life and work intertwined with one another.
Knowing how the forest communicates with itself, that everything is all connected is heartening.

An interesting read that mixes science and personal stories. The science is provided in accessible language and the issues are complex, but the forestry industry response to deforestation and climate issues depressed me. The author uses her voice to put the science into action and provides some hopeful messages.
