My Review of Caught by Surprise

Genre: Historical Fiction

My Rating: 4 Star.

Recommendation: 13 up.

My favorite character/s: Temperance and Gilbert are one of my favorite sets of Jen Turno's books! Temperance is an exciting and trying character that makes you want to knock some sense into her!

My Verse for Temperance is Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. English Standard Version.

My thoughts: This is a great book! I've read several of Mrs. Turno's books and enjoyed them very much. I can't wait for the next one!

This was one of the best and funniest books I have read this year. Caught By Surprise caught me by surprise by making my heart smile. I ADORED the characters of Temperance and Gilbert and I loved their relationship dynamic. Their witty banter was a hoot!! Add in a dose of mystery and this made for a PERFECT book. Caught By Surprise is one of my favorite reads ever!

I received this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Another fun, humorous love story by Jen Turano. As always, I enjoy the farcical nature of her stories and the lovable characters she creates.

This book has a lot of unexpected (although some were hinted at) twists and turns especially towards the end. It is an excellent read!

I love Jen's word craft. Her books always make me laugh ( not an easy feat). I have enjoyed every book of hers I have had the good fortune to read. This book was fun, although ( in my opinion) not one of her best. The story lagged a bit at the beginning, although it improved toward the end. Loved the characters and the great tie-up at the end.

What I liked: Okay, everything. I ADORE Jen Turano! Her books are whimsical, quirky, and full of people that I really want to be lifelong friends with. They're so full of life and fun and everything that I wish I was. I've been cheering for Temperance since the beginning of this series - it's about time she got her due! And I loved Gilbert. He was just the right amount of ornery (I love that in a hero, honestly), but still so incredibly sweet and romantic. Again, just what I needed.

Caught by Surprise by Jen Turano is an Apart From the Crowd series book number three. You can read it as a stand alone, but this is such a delightful series I think you will want to also read the first two. This story is filled with thoughtful reflections on God, adventure, romance, humor, mystery, and is just plain fun to read. The cover is beautiful and it helped me to begin to immerse myself into the time period. I loves the handsome and rather planned hero, Gilbert, and the lovely creative heroine, Temperance. You will have to read the story to find out why Temperance is really quite an ironic name for for our heroine.

I loved watching the characters change and draw closer to God. The story is filled with some twists and turns and has a very satisfying ending. I really did not want it to end, and I think it is one of Jen Turano’s best. . Her books are so enjoyable to read while drawing me closer to God. I highly recommend Caught by Surprise by Jen Turano.

I was given the book by the publisher and not required to write a review.

3.5 stars. I really did love this book. I read it slowly and throughly enjoyed revisiting characters from the first two books in the series, and the clever and hilarious banter between Gilbert and Temperance left me smiling every time. Their romance was real and I love that the author showed that you can be squeaky clean and still have an amazing love story! The little mystery was a nice side plot.

The plot was pretty slow the first half of the book however, and the characters were hard to keep up with at times (particularly if you were new to the series). There was a little theology issue at the very end that bothered me as well.

Still, this book left me happy and was such a fun escape book! Lovely, fun, and clean series from Jen Turano! Recommended.
