Loved it. Wish it had been ten times as long.

audiobook...
this was OK but I was hoping for more about his show and not about poker

I really loved In & Of Itself. The storytelling in the special was fabulous, plus what’s not fascinating about the overlap between magic and being a card shark? I liked his Fresh Air interview about the book enough to pick it up, but print lacks the performative quality that really made his story compelling.

First with In & Of Itself, then with Amoralman, Derek Delgaudio is a master of a metaphor. I loved Derek's relationship with Ronnie. I loved Derek's reflections on the mixed bag of participating in the cave. Cheering for you Derek!

Enjoyed his documentary but this book dragged on and I was never really excited about reading it but felt obligated to finish it since I already read a bit before it started to really drag on.

Might be my favorite book of the year. Really enjoyed his storytelling.

A book that blurs the line between fact and fiction and keeps you guessing as to what you should believe. While an engaging story, it fell short in realizing the promise of its title and the deep allegory of its opening. While this tale dabbles in the philosophy of morality it fails to actually make a statement regarding what “a moral man” is, or should be.

This book is good for what it is. Not a crazy or jaw-dropping read, but it kept me engaged and entertained throughout. I enjoyed the little dips into philosophy peppered throughout. I wanted more of the gambling world but I understand this was allegedly autobiographical so I suppose we just got what actually happened to Derek which if it’s all true, is frankly pretty cool!

Overall I was happy with this book but it’s not something I think I would ever re-read or really dwell on. I think Derek did what he set out to do with this book and I think he did it well!

super quick to read, sweet and quite informative. Idk I liked the settings a lot. Really cool memoir and rumination about lying in general
