I was reliving my childhood today reading a Jacqueline Wilson book. I must say, they're just as good as I'd remembered! Although this was a children's story, the characters and situations were very realistic and the story really drew me in.

Oh this was soooo lovely!! I had tears in my eyes several times during this story. Jacqueline Wilson is never afraid to tackle big scary real-life problems and she always does it beautifully. The ending had me all warm and fuzzy inside

Mean as a snake and twice as sly, dishing out "punishments" when "his girls" behave "without gratitude". He's one of them, "I have money and status and so what I say is law and heaven help the whelp who tries to do otherwise!" Ugh, just remembering him makes my skin crawl!
When Cookie and her mum fled the Big Bad Man I near cheered out loud!
Oh well done! And their new life, though not as rich and well off as before, has one thing that the other life certainly did not, it has peace.
Sometimes we do have to do drastic things to save ourselves.
Recommended to everyone who's ever had a nasty parent, or husband or boss or anyone who's ever treated them badly, because this is a reminder, a great reminder, that you are worth more than that!
