How to ADHD: An Insider's Guide to Working with Your Brain (Not Against It) by Jessica McCabe

I did highlight a reasonable amount of notes, though there is a good chunk of this that is memoir-style.
The beginning, since it is about focus, reads a lot like a standard "productivity" book, but the book started to pick up more for me in the sleep and motivation chapters.
I do think for the toolbox sections, a lot of it could be covered more in depth, as the memoir sections take up most of the space (but I like Jess as a YouTube personality so it was still worth reading to me!), though I also think having the examples / context for why those tools might work is important, just maybe not the most balanced between the two (for me).
Very quick read for me, seems reasonably approachable for a beginner to medical non-fiction. I think someone looking for more advanced advice or tools or even medical science abstracts might find this a little surface level.
+ I do wish at least some of the citation sources were listed IN the book and not a link to a website, since websites disappear all the time. I read a digital copy, idk if they're printed in the print copies.

Physical Copy Specific Notes: To be added once I finish it (so far though it's extremely easy to read while still being highly informative).
Audiobook Specific Notes: It's basically an eight hour version of the videos in a lot of ways, so if you're like me and put How to ADHD videos on as background noise sometimes, this is definitely the audiobook for you.
Graphic: Grief, Suicidal thoughts, and Death of parent
Moderate: Ableism, Panic attacks/disorders, Mental illness, and Eating disorder
Minor: Miscarriage and Bullying
The miscarriage mention is brief, but comes in a segment that heavily discusses other emotional issues the author was going through at the time, so it might still hit hard. The chapter "How to Make ADHD Harder" also touches on intersectionality and how things such as racism can compound on the abelism people with ADHD face, but all mentions are brief and non-graphic. All medical content is in the context of scientific explanations. There is also discussing of drowning that is given a content warning in-book.ellanarose's review

This book is first of its kind in the way it approaches education on ADHD through the lens of someone who not only has it but has learned to manage it in adulthood. It is directed towards adults who have ADHD and every chapter has 3 parts- life experience, things learned from it, and tools to manage it. She collaborates with doctors and experts in the field (including sharing reseand includes the experiences of commenters in the videos she's made on the topic. She also shares how to help loved ones and friends who have ADHD even if you dont have it. I truly think this book will help change the world.
