Pretty Girls, like False Witness, focuses on the sisterly relationships between the two leads and they are done in similar veins. We have the overacheving and ambitious sister and the drug addict sister. I will say that Pretty Girls was done in a unique and refreshing way that didn't feel overused. I really connected with Claire and the coping mechanism of denial. I also enjoyed how the story was interlaced with their father's journal entries, making the novel a much more thriller read.
And good god, the violence done on the women in this novel was so heartbreaking and when the Scott family came together it was cathartic.
This novel kept me hooked from beginning to end! I absolutely look forward (and I'm fearing for my heart) to reading more of Slaughter's books.
