This was a BWAM book which I was excited to read, but there were a ton of awkwardly racist side characters, it just wasn’t sitting right for me

Niko is the Seestadt girl. I love her. And I appreciate the including of Minor groups such like the Dear community. Is was a new for me

Loved it but the ending I felt was lacking but then I read the extended epilogue from her newsletter and it just pull it all together and it was so cute

Frustrating

Out of the 73 books that I have read this past 4 months, I believe this one is the worst. It took so much mental energy for me to finish it. So far I am not a fan of the previous 4 books in this series but this one was the most frustrating. Sadly it had an interesting storyline with characters that could have also been interesting. Unfortunately so much pages was devoted to repetitive descriptions of everything the characters are thinking. It became tedious very quickly. The inability for the characters to communicate even the most basic things led me to agree that they do not belong together.
There were so many waste of time and ridiculous scenes. Such as the fight in the bathroom. The villainous ex wife who they allowed to manipulate their feelings and their relationship. Throwing in that a character from an earlier book was not “doing well” but never letting us (the reader) know what was going on and why one hangout with the girls cured her. Then there is the writing style. It’s cringe worthy for me. Unusual expressions and phrasing, almost as if the book was translated into English. The female character’s pension for violence is concerning (frequent thoughts of violence)
On a positive note, the children are adorable. Little Niko stole my heart. The ending was sweet.
