An effective exploration of the impacts of the patriarchy on female relationships&desire. Very much depicted women’s sexualities being for other people, and the low standards women set for desire, love, and romance. The book felt extremely distant, which makes sense in a way (for the characters and how they related to themselves, the world, others), but personally detracted from my enjoyment of the book. The book was quite bleak in terms of the facets of female desire depicted, which is fine but not something I was particularly drawn to at that moment. Effective in the way that it depicted exploitation, but something about the book was off for me that I can’t quite place. Perhaps it was structural? Am unsure.

I picked this book due to its narrative format. I was looking for a non-fiction book that would be engaging. The book often read like a story and because of this was pretty easy to get through. What I was not expecting was the amount of descriptive erotic scenes. Do not recommend listening to this aloud with other people around. The story about Maggie was definitely the most engaging and the one I kept wanting to learn  more about. The last two women had some interesting perspectives but ultimately their stories did
not seem to come to a resolution and fell flat.

Not what I expected from the forward. I'm very curious about the writing of this one and want to look up more info. Incredibly sad and frustrated for all the women. Violently angry for Maggie. All of them, really, but especially angry for Maggie.

The three women who shared their experiences were very brave to do so, but I do not believe that the author did their stories justice. This book was just sad and it spoke more to the abuse women suffer under the power of men and less on women’s desires themselves.

I found Lina and Maggie's stories compelling but there wasn't enough time for Sloane's story. Her story felt the weakest and the least fleshed out. There was also a twist that has to do with the relationship between her and her brother but it was completely sudden. There was no foreshadowing or leading to that particular conclusion. Lina didn't really get a proper ending compared to the other two stories, but the book was so easy to get into.
