One of my favorite books ever since I was around 12 years old. I love the story and the way it's written.I reread it very often. My edition is well loved. I recommend this to anyone wanting to find a starting point into the world of verse novels and Sonya Sones.

This was such a cute and easy read story. Just what I needed. A cute love story and a story about daring to standing up for your own choices.

I found this book in my middle school library and ate it up, along with Sonya Sones’ other books. It doesn’t hit as hard in adulthood (obviously), but it’s nostalgic and I see looking back why I loved it so much! Kind of “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” vibes, if Margaret was in 9th grade in the 00s instead of 6th grade in the 70s.

Fun fact about me: I loved Sonya Sones’ books in middle school SO MUCH that I found her on Facebook and messaged her to tell her so. We’re Facebook friends to this day.

I love the way Sones plays with words. I love how here and there it's interspersed with prose, because it makes me feel like this is just the way Sophie processes, which makes it feel all the more real. It was so easy to fall in tune with the writing.

It's hard to pinpoint why exactly this doesn't feel like a five star story, but I think it's because it feels like we barely scratched the surface and I'm left feeling a little unsatisfied.

The title made me nervous. As a mom, I know there are things that my teen doesn't tell me - but it's not like a need a book to reinforce "don't tell your mom anything!"

But, this book is just beautiful. It's written in verse - like each page is a poem. Instead of being distracting, this writing style really compliments the story - because so much is said in just a few words.

It's a story about an average girl exploring love. And it's just a fun read.

The first time I opened this book I thought it was a book of poems. So once in a while I would open the book randomly and read a page and close it, until yesterday that I noticed it was a story. So, I sat down and started from the beginning and didn't move until I finished it. This book is so cute and adorable. I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book. It touches very simple, but direct and humor the changes a girl starts having and what's the usual reaction towards them. It's one of those books that you can relate completely and just share with your friends and be like: "oh I remember when this happened to me".

I want to make it abundantly clear that this is probably the worst book I've ever read.
To be frank I've never read a book with a more idek just disgusting love interest in my life, don't even get me started on the sequel which was in all ways so so much worse and I loved it so so much it hurts me. I adore this book because it is so beyond stupid and painful. I read this as a joke and then I read the sequel as not a joke and was aggressively disappointed in myself for liking such utter trash so much.
