Deadpool didn't come to prominence until I had stopped reading comics in my late teens and didn't pick up again until my late 20's. Loved the movies so much, I had to check out the books. So cool, but really picks up toward the and and then in Volume 2 we're pure gold.

A bit disjointed due to this being a collection of Deadpool's early appearances, there are several comics from other series' that continue previous storylines that aren't explained. The last 4 comics in the volume however were very good.

The stories here were okay, but most of the art (except for the last volume) was pretty horrible. In fact, it was some of the worst I've ever seen in graphic novels. I hated it. I did actually really love the first volume from the Deadpool (1997) series. It was funny and I liked the artwork there. I'm excited to keep reading. The rest of it was not something I'd ever read again or recommend.

it was really cool to see some of Deadpool's earliest appearances and learn more about him as a character. My favorite in the volume had to have been the last comic in this bind-up as you get to see another side of Wade.

I love deadpool!!! The Merc with the Mouth is one of my favorite comic book characters. My only problem, was I read this via Kindle, which made it a little harder to read occasionally.

Having gotten into Deadpool in a big way with the advent of his awesome movie, I felt like checking out his comics was the obvious logical step. It’s really interesting to see what the earliest incarnation of him was like, even if the super, super ‘90s artwork hasn’t aged gracefully. (And we’re not going into the Liefeld stuff. Soooooo much bad anatomy. Soooooo many pouches).

Regardless, it was a nice blast to the past, and one with stories that actually have held up surprisingly well. It was also cool to see Vanessa’s comic book incarnation, Copycat, fully aware and in control of her mutation. Overall, a nice intro to OG Deadpool and a good stepping off point to his other series.

The Nicieza comics are terrible--the jokes are lame and the drama falls flat--I remember liking his writing better than this back in the day, so perhaps he was off his game on these. The second collected mini-series by Mark Waid is at least decent, if not great. The final comic here, the first issue of the regular series by Joe Kelly, shows real potential.

Was written for people who understand references before my time. Illustrations were damned good.
