OMG, I loved it! The plot moved along quickly and was exciting. Clearly, it wasn't a work of high literature, but as a classic adventure novel, it was great! Not surprisingly, it was racist, sexist and not very accurate about animals, but I wasn't reading it as a primer for jungle survival or how women should behave.

Great book for its time... but racist, sexist, and ethnocentric A.F.

It would have 5 stars but it is a product of its time and it's hard not to be bothered by the prejudice inherent in the words. Truly a really good story. And such a cliffhanger.

If you can over look the rampant racism and sexism, this book is an excellent adventure novel!

The beginning and Tarzan’s time with D'Arnot were the best parts. The main idea and thoughts behind Tarzan’s development were well thought through.
