Marking this as DNF because I don’t think I’ll ever bring myself to read the last book, the second one was painful enough.

Not 5 stars as I feel some of the writing and plot points don't translate to a modern audience, but that's no one's fault!

I had only seen the Disney version (as I'm sure is true for many) and had no idea about the story behindthe film. I am so glad I read this book, and have gone on to read the others in the series. It's an amazing adventure story all led yb tarzan's neverending love for jane, and who can't love that?

First book of 2020 and what a silly read. I love the Disney movie and this plays out even more fantasy-like then that.. but it's definitely addictive. So I'll probably be reading the second one

Enjoyable read. I felt like the inspiration for the creatures of the forest was taken from The Jungle Book, but not accomplished as well.
SpoilerI have a really hard time buying that Tarzan would have figured out English on his own with the aid of children's books, picture dictionaries, and other books. I also have a hard time believing that he could be as reasoning and conversational after language was overcome.
Good to read the original.

"The Jungle Book" is my favorite book and this was a good fix of the similar theme.
I think I would love anything set in a warm jungle with wild animals and a wild main character.
If you know of more books that fit that lane please let me know.

So dark it was traumatic. This is 100% NOT like the Disney movie. It’s not even like the live action versions. There is brutal death, violence, and other TW. You have been warned…
adventurous fast-paced

I thought this would just be super cheesy but it was surprisingly enjoyable! (although also a bit cheesy especially when it came to describing Tarzan as the absolute epitome of manhood) Doesn't end as you might expect.
