This is my first Elle Kennedy book and I really enjoyed reading it! There was drama, angst (but not too much angst) and the writing itself was pretty good.

It's a pretty typical romance book. You have Hannah Wells, the smart, confident girl and you have Garrett Graham, the stereotypical jock that sleeps around and "all he cares about is the sport". They make a deal and end up falling for each other.

There's fake dating (sorta), there's past trauma and character development, there's humor and more.

I totally see how you could read this as a standalone but I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series.

“Just out of curiosity,” she says, “after you wake up in the morning, do you admire yourself in the mirror for one hour or two?”

“Two,” I reply cheerfully.

“Do you high five yourself?”

“Of course not.” I smirk. “I kiss each of my biceps and then point to the ceiling and thank the big man upstairs for creating such a perfect male specimen.”

I was delaying my read of The Deal.
The hype it got and the reviews were setting my expectations too high that I was afraid I be disappointed.
But I am glad I finally read this and boy was that so fun!
I get why readers enjoyed this series!
It's such a pure simple college adult romance.

Elle's writing was simple, straight to the point although at some parts it was kind of predictable.
What sold me with the book, the humour.
I was laughing my eyes out and smiling to myself with the book.
She makes each character so funny with their own personalities, punchline and sarcasm.
It makes every character chemistry so natural and you just simply enjoy the book.

With the natural character growth, banter and interaction; the romance felt quite natural and the buildup with the plotline was at such a balanced pace.
I love reading Hannah and Garrett's POV. It's funny, emotional and so much fun.

With the plotline comes important topics of rape, domestic abuse, drugs, alcohol, family issues and trauma.
These issues were not forced and were naturally taught and dealt with following along the plotline and our characters.
I can't wait to dive into the series!

“She tries to take a step down the hall, but I tug on her hand and kiss her again, and this time it's not a peck. I kiss her hard, losing myself in her taste and her heat and every damn thing about her. I never expected her. Sometimes people sneak up on you and suddenly you don't know you ever lived without them.”
