listen, the writing wasn't good and it was incredibly predictable. that being said, it was cute and im giving an extra star for the hillary duff style locker room barge in.

I was surprised at the depth of emotion found in this book.   I enjoyed the humor that was sprinkled throughout the book.
Hannah is an awesome protagonist. She's very independent and a strong survivor of rape and the aftermath of standing up for herself. Garret also has had personal issues in his past that round out his character.  The subconscious falling for one another was interesting and realistic.  The antics of the surrounding friends.  And the all-around world-building makes this one of the best books I have read this year.

“Sometimes people sneak up on you and suddenly you don’t know how you ever lived without them.”

The Deal
is the first book in the Off-Campus series, a series that follows the love lives of four hockey players. This is the story of Garrett and Hannah.

Although this is the first book, this is the book that sold me on the series. Its a light, funny story, perfect for summer days. I truly recommend this story and the whole series!

TW: rape. skip this one if the mention of rape is a no go for you. I’d hadn’t seen it in the summary & already bought the book by then, so I decided to persist. In this case, it’s not on page & is referenced in the past tense. It’s mentioned on the very first page and then about every 50ish pages, with one semi-recall scene.

TW: physical abuse. Male MC’s father was abusive to him as a child and the father is now physically abusive to his gf. Off page, bruises are seen & abuse is insinuated.

My personal rule is that I don’t read romances that came out prior to 2018. Prior to then it's the wild wild west & consent is pretty dicey, imo. Considering the year, this is pretty good in those areas.

While published in ~2015, it’s heavily talked about online, so I gave it a try. The beginning 1/3 does have a lot of the classic 2015 phrasing like “chicks” etc, but the guy MC seems to morph into a different person pretty much as soon as he becomes interested in the girl.

Basic romance. Very cute. Deals with rape and sexual abuse. Good smut, still to little. Guys, take notes from Garrett Graham. If all of you would act like him, the world would be a better place.
