Look, this is not getting anything remotely resembling a "full" review. I was in a weird emotional place, which always translates over to my reading (*big* mood reader here), and when that happens, I turn to steamy, problematic (I could list the issues, but really, you know they're there going in; I'm not defending it, at all, but just...read something else if that's not what you want) romances. It happens. Pretty periodically. (I'm an emotional person.) They're quick and easy reads, page-turners, and I love the drama, the sex, the questionable "big dude/protectiveness" and "I won't give up til I win you over you" vibes, and knowing there's going to be an HEA. It always hits the spot and helps get me through the moods. Thanks for your service this time, Elle Kennedy. #sorrynotsorry

Caved to the longtime hype and read The Deal. I don't enjoy reading spice, so I had to skip some sections of quite a few chapters, this affected my rating. However, I loved reading about Hannah and Garrett growing relationship, from "enemies" to friends to partners. I thought it was beautiful how they trusted each other with their trauma and helped each other heal from it. As of right now, I personally will not continue the series because I feel uncomfortable with the level of spice in the books.

Such a good read to break up the fantasy books I've been reading. Good spicy book, I read the whole book in less than 24 hrs

I can’t believe I waited so long to read this book because I knew I would love it and I was right. And I don’t just love it, I’m obsessed with Garrett and Hannah. Even after finishing the book, I can’t stop thinking about them and it’s making it hard to focus on other books. That’s the sign of a great book! An all time favorite for sure!!

⭐️⭐️

The characters are very heavily stereotyped. Both the main characters are pick me’s. It reads like a 2000s high school movie set in a college. The writing has a lot of telling not showing. There is a lot of repetition between the dual POV’s of summarizing what previously happened. The only reason I read was because at times the narration was very funny and it was my first hockey romance. Also as someone who has played ice hockey for eight years the hockey was hard to read. A lot of just felt misplaced.

The SA and other trigger warnings felt very out of place and I didn’t go into it aware of those trigger warnings. One moment she is talking about a party and then the next she is throwing the r word around. Went into this, expecting a light romance. For how hyped this book was, I’m a bit disappointed.

From all the women obsessing over the men. To how a lot of tropes felt forced in like enemies to lovers, small town, fake dating. It didn’t really feel like a cohesive entity..
