This was a cute and unique romance. the beginning was amazing to me and the development of their friendship was my favorite part. however, there were some parts in this book that just had me rolling my eyes.
like the part where there’s a weirdly stereotypical bullying scene between jocks and a nerd where the protagonist helps him?? it literally added nothing to the story and just made me so confused. also when archers dads wife somehow finds out about the protagonists life history and uses it to pull the guy to tried to rape her from her past to kill her????? like it felt so far fetched and stupid i did not understand how anyone could fully get past that.
also i kinda felt like the protagonist was kinda pushy. if not for that i could’ve enjoyed this so much more :/

This is a contemporary romance where our a protagonist Bree moves to a small town in Maine to escape her trauma. In the small town she meets a mute man named Archer. Together they find ways to support each other and navigate their traumas.

As a whole I really enjoyed the story. I loved both characters and I was rooting for them throughout the entire novel. I was intrigued the entire time. The characters had good banter as well as natural chemistry. Nothing felt overly obvious or cringy.  I absolutely loved Archer as a character,I felt that he was well rounded and honestly just perfect, maybe a bit too perfect. I also really enjoyed Bree as a protagonist she seemed like a genuinely good person and I enjoyed watching her grow relationships with the people of Pelion.

The biggest thing that knocked a star down from my rating is the way that Bree portrayed the deaf community. Bree is a coda, child of a deaf adult, and they were many things from her point of view that did not align with the deaf community and the experiences of a coda. I feel that Sheridan did not do any research regarding the deaf community, deaf culture, & American Sign Language. Sign language is my foreign language in high school and I have a basic understanding of deaf culture and sign language. I feel that someone who is a part of the community whether they’re hard of hearing, deaf, or a coda might have more concrete opinions regarding this book.

This 👏🏽 book 👏🏽 right 👏🏽 here 👏🏽 !

My favorite quotes are at the end this time because there are so many!

Archer’s Voice took me through so many emotions and I found myself with tears in my eyes not even a fourth of the way the way through. It can easily be binged in a day, but I made myself slow down because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Archer & Bree. To top it all off, this copy has an extended epilogue that really put the icing on the cake!

Full disclosure, this was SPICY spicy😆. But I HIGHLY recommend it!

< Favorite quotes >

“Sometimes an understanding silence was better than a bunch of meaningless words.”

“Try to believe that maybe more light shines out of those who have the most cracks.”

“..the loudest words are the ones we live.”

“I knew I loved her – fiercely and with every part of my heart, even the broken parts, even the parts that felt unworthy and without value. And maybe those parts most of all.”

“Bad things don't happen to people because they deserve for them to happen. It just doesn't work that way. It's just… life. And no matter who we are, we have to take the hand we're dealt, crappy though it may be, and try our very best to move forward anyway, to love anyway, to have hope anyway… to have faith that there's a purpose to the journey we're on.”

Writing was as I expected- not necessarily bad just not great for a published book. Spicy scenes were some of the best scenes in the best. Events in book were predictable. Easy and quick read

I have read a lot about damage, healing and vulnerability but this one reached home.

All, I know is that my own breathe peaked and slowed with Bree's and Archer's. This book was really written from the good heart and I am glad to read it, I feel myself blessed to coming across Archer's Voice.
