Although this book is excellent, it also portrays a terrifying world where people are not free in any way. The author managed to write a brilliant dystopian story.

The main character thinks about SA way too much and people seem to praise this book and completely overlook that. There’s a difference between a book with flawed characters that are expected and a book where we take all the good and neglect to mention the bad.

Full of plot holes and loose ends. In many places it seems as though Orwell started a subplot and merely forgot to mention it again. Also many things don’t add up within the plot particularly within

Winston’s rebellion such as the thought police merely watching him and Julia have sex for weeks before arresting him

Also, the lack of likability for the characters creates a indifference for the reader. I personally found it hard to get the sense of pity for any of them living in this “awful” society as they’re not likeable. Disappointing read particularly since it’s a classic.

Me he leído este libro porque lo tenía en pendientes desde hace muchísimo tiempo, pero sabiendo que había envejecido muy mal en lo que se refiere a temas de género. El libro apesta a señoro de una manera que es asquerosa y solo puede entender que se haya convertido en un super clásico porque salió justo en los inicios de la Guerra Fría por parte de un autor ya reconocido. Porque el libro me ha parecido simple y llanamente malo. La parte final

a partir de que atrapan a Windston

me ha resultado algo más de interés pero en general me ha parecido un panfleto mal escrito sin profundidad ni en su mundo ni, muchísimo menos, en la construcción de sus personajes. Si los protagonistas fuesen adolescentes y lo hubiese escrito una mujer en 2012 tendríamos clarísimo que es una de las muchas distopías juveniles de la época que destacaban por muchas cosas menos por calidad.
