my favourite poems are bless your ugly daughter and bless the moon but they all were v good

grabs you by the heart and won't let u go

Simply COULD NOT put this one down. I couldn’t find anything that I disliked about this collection of poems. Every single one of them captivated me.

“No one leaves home unless home is the mouth of a shark. You only run for the border when you see the whole city running as well.”

Hauntingly beautiful words about horrific situations.

impressed by the craft it takes to make a poem look this natural/effortless/stream of consciousness

I'm really upset that I can't read this for the first time again.
dark mysterious reflective tense medium-paced

pages: 80
challenging dark emotional inspiring medium-paced

I particularly loved "Teaching My Mother How to Give Birth" and "Our Men Do Not Belong To Us", but I found this collection to be much more opaque, and apart for a few beautiful lines I just didn't connect with the writing.
