Wow. I got this as a birthday present, and what a gift.

I read and reread the poems, read some more, and cried a lot.

Warsan Shire does not disappoint. You feel each poem deeply.

This book was so so awesome but too short! I (like many, I assume) was introduced to Warsan Shire through her work with Beyoncé, and I am so grateful for that. Shire has a visceral writing style, which is perfect for evoking the intense feelings she is describing. I could feel in my soul everything she was talking about, and think there is a lot of merit in this book, helping heal pain through words.

I need to reread this another time.  I did not know there was a glossary until the end so I don’t think I completely comprehended some of the poems.
