A lot of this stuck with me, I've highlighted so much in this little book. Read it one evening

some super powerful imagery in this - loved it

Okay, whatever else this may be , stop calling these poems. I can also write a half sentence in one line and the other half in another, starting another sentence halfway and call it a poem if I want to. There is no rhyme, yes , poems don't have to rhyme but poems need to follow some ground rules. This is neither a sonnet, not a haiku, not a ballad. At one point, the author just wrote a paragraph and am I still supposed to read it as a poem? Like I don't care if this is a book of 20 word stories, short stories or poetic proses but trust me there's nothing poetic about this book. And though I suck at articulation, I can confidently say my review is more comprehensive than that book was. And before someone comes at me, I actually write poems and I and many others put real effort in making it work.

Warsan Shire is a word magician. Like damn.
emotional reflective

Every word, every space, and every pause so tightly packed with meaning. Nothing extra or wasted or missing. Feels so so big.
